Okay, so this one takes a bit of an introduction:
My wife and I have been collecting Disney artwork for 15 years (long before the child came along). I have a fascination with Haunted Mansion (doesn't everyone?), so most of what I collect leans toward Gracey Manor (I was a West Coaster before we came to TN). I eventually purchased replicas of the stretching portraits. When we moved to TN, my daughter was 1. We put the portraits in storage as other Disney art (slightly less morbid) took over the walls.
In 2013, our 7-year-old daughter rode the mansion for the first time and was enamored with it. When we got back home, I was talking to her about her favorite parts, and she mentioned the portraits. When I told her that we owned those portraits, she didn't believe me. I took them out for her to look at.
She sat on the floor for over an hour just staring at them. Afterward, she picked up her pen and largest sheet of paper and began recreating them. I realized my wife & my addiction to Disney had finally spilled over.
To poke a little fun, I made this motivational poster depicting my daughter and her masterpiece.
