|
|
I've been listening to many tracks and most of them I have never heard of before or never experienced because I'm too young. So if someone would be so kind to explain what some tracks are to me Thanks
What's the story the tracks called:
The World According to Goofy
Fountains of Nations - Splashtacular
Casa Del Fritos
Flight to the Moon
Mission to Mars
Mickey Mouse Revue
If I think of any others I'll let you know _________________ Attention travelers, please remain seated. Your vechile will be rotating backwards. -Spaceship Earth |

The goofy thing was a parade at disneyland in the early 90s, i think. i missed it because i didn't go to the park in 1990 or 1991.
Casa de Fritos was a restaurant...the forerunner of Casa Mexicana which was the forerunner of Rancho del Zocalo, with which you are familiar. Frito Lay was the sponsor and they had a chip dispenser thing featuring the Frito Kid.
Flight to the Moon was the precurser to Mission to Mars, which occupied the current Pizza Port location. Moon was first, then they redid it to be Marsy as Mars was more 'tomorrowy' after we actually started putting people on the moon. Anyway, the premise was a shuttley observation trip to the moon and Mars respectively. Kinda like Mission: Space, but without the barf bags.
Mickey Mouse Revue was in the current Mickey's PhilharMagic location at the MK in Florida. It had the same basic premise, even, though it was all audio-animatronic instead of 3-D movie. You had Mickey Mouse conducting an orchestra of Disney characters. The MM Revue was moved wholecloth to Tokyo DL...it's still there. It's rumored that some of the figures were reused in the 1984 incarnation of Alice in Wonderland at DL. The figure of Alice in the Golden Afternoon segment, for example.

The fountain itself and it's show (every 15 mins) is just Fountain of Nations, I thought "Splashtacular" was an old show and is no longer being done....? It didn't last long, I think it just ran in 1993...
Here is the information I could find: http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/id135.htm _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

Some of the rigs for Fantasmic I believe were tested out during that show. I specifically remember the "dragon" rig used in a somewhat modified form at one point or another.
Fantasmic was already JUST starting to wow guests at Disneyland by that time.
and 15 years later...still going strong. _________________

Well, said! I have to say Fantasmic is more of a classic attraction then just a show. I'm surprised they didn't put Fantasmic on the Remember... Dreams Come True Firework show. (RDCTF)
The again, Fantasmic ends right before RDCTF so... _________________ Attention travelers, please remain seated. Your vechile will be rotating backwards. -Spaceship Earth |

For any of you who didn't get the chance to see Spashtacular, you didn't miss much, trust me. It had the same old sappy story line (good vs. evil), the music was anything but inspiring, and the costumes were on the freakish side. There wasn't enough room for the crowds to watch the show and it created a huge bottlebneck for guest trying to cross from Future World to World Showcase. In order to make more room, they removed the flagpole and the dedication placque that had been there since 1982 and made one huge expanse that still exixts today. The stage they built at the south end of the fountain is still there and used rarely (except when they drag out the latest Dinsey Channel tween singer wantabee for a taped show. In an interesting side note. when they built the stage, they cracked the cement foundation for the fountain and it has been actively leaking ever since. They have to add more water daily to keep the levels up for the daily 15 minute shows. _________________ John |

It was mostly a show to sort of revitalize the the Fountain of Nations in all of it's "Water Show" glory. Along with some ulterior motives.
I much prefer watching it in the evening as it is. Splashtacular was over the top...Just didn't fit in. IMO. _________________

The World According to Goofy has been billed as one of Disney's best parades in the last 25 years or so...While there's a definite focal point to it all...It actually gets quite humorous... _________________
