There's been a lot going around in the rumor mill concerning a "Going back to Basics" for journey into imagination....Basically bringing back the original attraction..or at least a throwback and an emotional feeling that's more in tune with the original....For years they've been talking about bringing Dreamfinder back....
Has anyone heard/read anything regarding this? _________________

Bah, this rumor comes up all the time... any time there is a change in upper mgmt, improvements to an existing ride or a new ride, someone blows their nose... pretty much guarantee that this one comes up...
But, Kodak still has say on what goes on inside the pavillion... so until they leave or change their minds (remember, they are the ones who wanted to change it in the first place), probably not gonna happen...
Although, I thought I did read that their contract with Disney may be in renegotiations (not sure when it expires)...

WHAT!!!!!
Don't be dragging me into this. Okay, so I would love to see the original Journey return. And if it meant giving up the black stuff for a while I would. If they restore the original, I'll give up Guiness from the time they announce until I ride it the first time. (Then I'll make a dash to the Rose and Crown like you have never seen. Tell the women and children to just watch out.)
Besides, there are other albeit inferior stouts on the market that would help me through. (Murphy's, Sam. Otter Creek........) _________________ [ |

Only at UAB can the discussion of an attraction's rehab relate back to Guiness. Nice. Love this place.

John, please don't use 'Rehab" and 'Guinness" in the same sentence. It makes me nervous. _________________ [ |

What's the story behind Imagination anyway? I never liked it much (only because it was my brother's favorite ride, so I wanted nothing to do with it), but now I miss it, and HATE the new one. I even HATE the new one even with One Little Spark tossed in. I hear even Eisner hated it.
Anyway, it sucks that it's gone, but how did it end up there in the first place? It was an oddball attraction, like Mr. Toad is said to be. I don't understand how it fit in with Future World at all. Even the new one doesn't seem to fit in. I think the old one, or a throwback to it should be built in Fantasyland, over Pooh's 100 acre waste of space. |

Basically they changed the original to better "match" the rest of the pavillion (mainly Honey I Shrunk the Audience)...
Stories differ between whether it was Disney's decision or Kodak's decision to change the pavillion......
Well, when they changed it, it lost all of the magic and "imagination" of the original.... not to mention no more Dreamfinder and almost no Figment....
After the second version racked up the most complaints of any ride ever, they decided to redo it again and add back Figment....
So they basically tweaked a few scenes and added Figment... But Imagination 3.0 still did not live up to the original version...
Since then, there has been rumors all the time about gutting it again and returning back to the original..... That's the quick & short story about the changes... |
