A lot of people's early exposure to classical music is through Disney Parks & Films. Any of you have a specific classical piece that you were introduced to through Disney that has become a personal favorite?

I can not say any particular piece was exposed to me through Disney, but I will admit to finding a lot of enjoyment in some of the tracks from Fantasia.

Impressions De France was my first exposure to a medley at 6 years old....Now whenever I hear one of the pieces used in Buddy Baker's arrangement, I related it to Impressions De France's score.

Others will equate certain pieces to the Pig Movie "Babe".

Best. Score. Ever.

Claude Debussy's Claire de Lune is exquisite. Played it for a percussion performance in college.

Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie (sic) #1-3" (the skiing section) gives me tears.

Camilie Saint Saens "Aquarium" from Carnival of Animals (opening piece) is by far the best piece of classical music ever.

Classical music is my favorite type of music. If anyone is interested I can tell you each of the pieces and where to find them in entirety. However, most are obviously different recordings than Impressions de France.

I agree about Saint Saens's "Aquarium" from "Carnival of Animals". Its use in the France film is one of the most effective uses of Classical music in the parks.

Hi again. I tried to reply to this topic before but got cut off, (my error I guess), anyway
when it comes to classical music, this is something I'll owe Disney forever.

1) William Tell Overture: Rossini. From "The Band Concert"

2) 1812 Overture: Tchaikovsky. From "Romeo and Juliet"(Silly Symphony)

3) Grand Canyon Suite: Groefe, (I think). From DLRR.

4) Anything from "Fantasia". With the possible exception of "Rite of Spring" by Stravinsky.
(I know it's supposed to be a dance piece, which may be the problem.)

5) Anything from "Fantasia 2000".

Speecial mention: Flight of the Bumblebee: Rimsky-Korsakov. Actually the 'jazzed up'
version from "Make Mine Music" ---which was supposed to be the
next "Fanatasia" anyway Wink .

Anyway, when it comes to the classics, I know what I like. Peace.

Ah! The joy of recognition. Just think. When you say music to today's generation they think Snoop Dog and Likun Park. The more they put that stuff on the radio, the more I load my CD changer or listen to talk radio. Time to get Sirius.

Like WDWFan, Night on Bald Mountain from Fantasia left a big impression on me as a kid. It's a wonder how many children are turned onto (or at least made aware of) classical music because of that film.

I've always thought that the "Night on Bald Mountain" Sequence leading to the "Ave Maria" was the best part of Fantasia, though I also went through a "Rite of Spring" phase (still love the music, not so much in the Fantasia version) and right now my favorite segment is the Tchaikovsky.

All good, but really the Disney arrangements of the artists in Impressions de France really get me going.

Is Rhapsody In Blue in there? I love that music! That was composed by George Gershwin...he was American, right? If so, than I'm not sure why his music would be featured in Impressions.
