|
|
There has been a lot of talk and buzz about the possibility of the return of the Hatbox Ghost. Apparently this is something that has been in the planning for a while now, but the funding keeps getting shifted around. But apparently it appears that it may finally be coming true...
Also, it appears that the main factor behind his return may be the new HM movie project by Guillermo Del Toro, which is supposed to be about the Hatbox Ghost (http://www.wired.com/underwire/2010/07/guillermo-del-toro-will-rebuild-disneys-haunted-mansion/)
Right now, all of the rumors discuss DLR's HM, but if it is being driven by the movie, then I think he would eventually appear at WDW's HM...
If you are not familiar with the Hatbox Ghost, I recommend this fan site that has a ton of amazing details: http://hatboxghost.com _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

I'd love to see this happen in both parks, but mostly WDW since it's right next door! |

I'd love to see Del Toro's Haunted Mansion. He's a fantastic director, one of my favorites, and I think this project is right in the center of his wheelhouse.
Should be a great project for him. |

Tom Corless of WDWNT just Tweeted that Haunted Mansion queue is being expanded for interactive elements and handicap loading starting today. He's been in the parks for several days (met up with him Sunday) so I'm sure there will be pictures of the walls that are up posted soon. Rumored also is that it will close 1/11 for larger changes. |

WOW!!! Del Toro actually knows his stuff! To make a film based on a character of the Haunted Mansion to whom was only in the attraction for a few days only to fall into obscurity is amazing!
I REALLY hope they bring him back into the parks! it seems silly not to since he's become more mainstream lately and Imagineers can perfect the special effect! _________________ Attention travelers, please remain seated. Your vechile will be rotating backwards. -Spaceship Earth |

Apparently the story is that the Hatbox Ghost was onset for the initial test runs, but never made it out of the CM & press soft openings. You can check out more details here: http://hatboxghost.com _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

well apparently the Hat Box Ghost is on Twitter. He asked Jon Favreau not to forget to put him in the "Magic Kingdom" movie that he is rumored to direct. ... Oh and on subject if you watch the Disney treasures DVD "Disneyland Secrets, Stories and Magic" Tony Baxter talks about the Hat Box Ghost briefly and shows the camera the maintenance card for the Audio-Animatronic. So he says that it was there and swears he saw it as a child. _________________ Jason

That's what I thought, so technically it was never in the final version. |

Correct... during testing and soft openings they found out that there was too much ambient light and ruins the effect...
Not sure why the Hatbox Ghost would be too worried about being included in "Magic Kingdom", seeing as his own movie is already going into production (del Torro has said that HG is going to the main character in the new HM movie)...

I found it more interesting that the Hat Box Ghost Tweets. _________________ Jason

I find it more surprising that Tower Bridge and London Bridge tweet... and London Bridge can be a real jerk (I'm not making that up). |

It's so easy with LED screens nowadays - they should bring it back. |

There are many ways to conjure the Hatbox Ghost, not just the use of LED screens. My loyal Imagineers have been hoping for and planning my return for some time, but the suits and bean counters at Disney — visionaries, none of them! — have different ideas, all of which involve reaching deeper into consumers' pockets. Only now and because of the potential for greater marketing and product tie-ins (films and merchandise to be released), it appears that I may re-materialize, once and for all.
Nonetheless, I'm a restless spirit who's been haunting Haunted Mansion and Disney park fans for many, many years. If not a ghost in the parks, why not one in the machine? So, I tweet and network and whatever I need to do to alert mortals and kindred souls of my plight, and gain supporters for my cause: I want to go HOME! My efforts have resulted in a Wiki listing, my own domain, Facebook fan and profile pages, a MySpace account, a MiceChat account, my presence on Twitter, two petitions for my return, a blog and a cult following. I don't think there's been a more wanted ghost in history. Well, save for that Holy Spirit entity.
By the way, boo. (I have to say it. I'm a ghost.)
I do hope that you'll be seeing me soon.
Yours ghoully,
