|
|
I wanted to start a new thread about this video game that is currently in development, because the original discussion was included in a few other topics (original topic: http://www.uabmagic.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3695)
This is a very interesting video game concept/plot (from Wikipedia):
long, long, time ago, the sorcerer Yen Sid created a pen-and-paper world for his forgotten characters, accesible through a mirror. Mickey accidentally trips through the mirror, spilling paint thinner and twisting the world. He managed to escape without Yen Sid knowing, but it had its consequences. The Phantom Blot usurped power from Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and sent the world into ruin. Years later, Mickey is kidnapped by the Phantom Blot and sent into the world. Oswald, his will lost, twisted by jealousy over the mouse's rise to fame, has formulated a plan to destroy Mickey. The Mad Doctor works closely with the Blot, creating robotic "Beetleworx", made to intimidate and twist Mickey's vision of his friends. He also creates 'buddies' for Oswald, looking like Donald Duck and Goofy, as Oswald wants Mickey's life and popularity for himself. Mickey must stop the Phantom Blot, gain the trust of Oswald and save the forgotten world.
Based on some of the earlier concept images, this game is not going to look like anything else out there and completely foreign to Disney and "Disney Style". Casual Disney fans may not be interested in the game, but it is not being for casual fans... they are trying to capture the hardcore "gamers" and probably the teen/Gen-X generations...
Right now the only people who have a lot of details and images are Game Informer, they have just released a new magazine edition that covers the game. They also have a lot of stuff online, including some new concept images and even a rough animation video:

Being a gamer and in the demographic, I think this is game is going to be awesome! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

I'll definitely give that game a try, but I'm still partial to the old Nintendo game: Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. |

Kingdom Hearts has been popular - I enjoy the game. It will be interesting to watch the new game develop. Perhaps KH was the stepping stone to see how Disney could enter the video game market. |

Never saw that one... but I did love one of the most underrated games of all time: DuckTales! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

I used to have it way back when. You can check it out here:

I was more of a Dragon Warrior girl though. |

I used to take a break from trying to recreate the Magic Kingdom in Legos by playing Adventures in the Magic Kingdom.
Now that I'm older, I should try to recreate the Magic Kingdom with empty beer cans. |

While the concept art looks great, the actual screenshots I've seen look pretty uninteresting. |

I started playing this game recently between freelance work, and it's REALLY fun!
There are nods to many attractions and Disney-themed lands in this one! I think part of what makes this game so enjoyable is that it has so many homages to Disney rides/attractions in their parks. I'm not much of a gamer, but this game was definitely worth a purchase, if you ask me : )
I only really wished that there were more Theme-park levels! I would love to play in an EPCOT inspired land! Especially if I got to go inside the Spaceship Earth sphere! |
