So a few of you have asked what I've been doing with myself these days...Unfortunately I've got more time on my hands so I've been involved in restoring old Radios and TVs.

For those of you that are interested, Here's a few images from some of my current projects.

On the backburner is a 1947 Crosley 307-TA

So far I've gotten the RCA to the point of getting to display though no image. Luckily a 60 year old picture tube is still good. You can bet that I'm going to be playing original episodes of the Disneyland TV show once I've fully restored these sets Wink.

Pretty much Smile.

My wife and I have pretty much molded our lifestyle into 20s-40s. This includes clothing, music, appliances etc.

They look nice and good luck with getting them going completely...can you hook a VCR to em? but...what are all those wires and fat cylinders for? Where are all the transform...(um oops) transistors?

They are sharp though and I am sure it is a fun and challenging hobby. Best of luck with em. A serious question though, now that everything is broadcast digitally, can you GET any analog signal to show on them?

These are all tube Sets....No Transistors, no printed circuit boards, no Integrated Circuits.

Those big cylinder things are the bane of my existence right now. They're paper/wax capacitors that are VERY prone to failure. That is in fact what I'm replacing right now.

It's like the Tower of Terror queue. Okay, there weren't tvs, but they look like they should be there.

Does look like a fun hobby. (And of course if you get them all working you will have another heat source for the winter...)

Well. I replaced 3 more Mica Capacitors and started adjusting the Horizontal Oscillation frequency coil..

And I got this.

The recording was sheer dumb luck. It was not timed to use that dialog, but once I rewatched it I found it to be pretty funny. The drifting frequency at the end was also not intentional.....But it does work and it is holding a picture.

Nice work! The most I've ever worked with tubes is on my first guitar amp. Those suckers are expensive to replace! I guess that's why amps don't go up to 11...
