Here are some pictures I took of the meet & greets that the Cars stars are doing at WDW. The first group is from D/MGM where the cars drive around, move there eyes, honk their horns, and rev their engines while a team of cast members make sure they do drive over the photo opties. They are also in the parade, but I didn't get a picture of that:
I had to get in on it:
They were also hanging out at Downtwon Disney's West side on the tour across the country stop.

The touring cars are different from the "in park" cars. The in park cars are more animated. (eg. The touring cars have eye stickers on the windshield and the ones in the park have moving eyes.)
They are pretty cool.

The Touring cars had moveable eyes...McQueen is built on the chassis (and with an engine) of a Suped up TransAm. When I asked for specs nobody on the "Pit and Publicity Team" (I made that up) could agree on stats...
What they all did agree on. Lightning McQueen Can only go in 2 directions. Forward and Backward. His unrealistic wheel size makes him impossible to turn more than a few degrees apparently. _________________

Strange, the touring cars at Downtown Disney, could not move their eyes and you could tell they were a decal. Must be two versions out there. |

The Eyes were removeable....The White portion was a screen decal.. The eyes couldnt move on their own (I dont think) but they could be repositioned.
As far as I know there's only one set. The garage down the road for me build them....They also did a lot of the work for the fast and the furious movies... _________________

In the parks, the eyes moved and you could see the sticks below them that moved them and the extra dimension. AT DtD, no sticks, they were part of the decal. Again, there must be variations. |

Just becuase I am sure D is sitting at his computer thinking I am on drugs, here's the eyes on the cars from inside the parks.
And here is a pic from the DTD West side versions with no shadows of depth or stick to move...just one big sticker on both of these cars here.
Since I have not seen the cars on tour in any other city, I am wondering what version they are using? Anyone seen them in their neck of the woods? |
