Float Changes for Electrical Parade

As reported by Screamscape and JimHillMedia.Com there will be some changes to the current float line up in the Electrical Parade. The biggest change will be the replacement of the Blue Fairy by Tinker Bell....

Boooo! The Blue Fairy is timeless. Tinkerbell.... well, I've never been a big fan. She's not exactly a fun personality in Peter Pan- she's so spiteful. I still don't understand the Tinkerbell madness.

I think part of the appeal of Tink is that we all can relate to being jealous\prideful at times. As a parent, I can see a lot of traits shown by little kids that are exhibited in Tink as well.

That said, I think the change in parade is financially motivated due to the big Disney Fairies push. I'd rather they left Blue Fairy alone and if Tink is needed place her by Capt'n Hook or Pan.

Better yet, if you want to push the fairies... make a big float with a magnifying glass on it and have all of the Disney fairies visible "under the glass".

After reading the Jim Hill article I do not have a problem with the replacement of the Blue Fairy with Tink. Many changes have happened to this parade and some of the favorite floats,ie Pete's Dragon, were added in after the parade started to promote a movie.So who knows one day we may have the same descussion when they go to replace the new tink float.

With Pinocchio coming out on DVD soon, you'd think they'd WANT to keep the Blue Fairy, and maybe just ADD Tink.

Honestly, Disney is pushing everything towards the girls. If you go to the Disney Store, most items are either Princess, Tween or Fairies based. The only boy items right now are Toy Story and Cars. The parks seem to be in the same place too.

They need to either add more male -oriented stuff, or non-gender based stuff.

The LA Times has an article about the new Tink float, including photos of the float itself....

Is it just me or does the float have more of a Spectromagic feel to it than MSEP?

I'd agree more spectro than MSEP.

I did not see any of the other fairies on or by the float. Would seem to me adding them would give more of a push to that entire franchise. Anyone know if they are there and the pics don't show it or if it is just Tink?

Just Tink on the float, I think the others are going to be walking around (see the second pic in the article).... they look like they are straight out of Spectro.
