Not to repel, maybe they attract something. Butterflies, maybe? Guessing that bees would be unlikely, although useful. |

They probably do attract bees at least (we're pollinators!) but humans are attracted too & not for looks alone. |

That would have been my first thought as well, but Morocco was included from the start. One of these two was added in '84, the other in '88. They are in close proximity to each other (the pavilions, not the countries!) |

Doesn't seem like this has been going on for too long, so I'll take a shot with kicking off in 2006? As far as the name of the event, I grew up with a big sister who had every LP Blondie released. Eat to the Beat was one of those. Guess the name can't be a coincidence! |
