Where do you vacation, when not at Disney?

So many of us post pictures of our vacations at one of the Disney properties, which makes sense, since we all love Disney. But I got to wondering....Where do you go for vacation....that isn't Disney related?

Can't remember back far enough to remember the last place my wife
allow us to go on vacation that was not Disney.

We have friends who own a beach house just outside of Charleston, SC. We try to get down there for a week every year but it seems like we only make it every other year. (This is an "on" year. We already have the flights booked and the time off scheduled.)

We get away for a long weekend once a year for marathons. Usually NH, but Vermont this year. Went to Ireland last year for 10 days which is why we only got to WDW once. Got up to Toronto 2 years ago, but that didn't take away from a Disney trip.

I'm thinking a combined Hawaii/DL trip in a few years.

i pretty much only vacation at Disney theme parks these days.

my next big trip will probably be europe. i need to head back to the UK (it's been almost ten years, and as an old Cunard fan, the Queen Mary 2 is calling my name), want to see DLP and Edith Wharton's grave and Versailles in France, and I want to go to Rome/Ostia Antica/Pompeii/Herculaneum. I've also got to get back to Greece sometime soon ....and i REALLY want to visit St. Petersburg (particularly Pushkin/Tsarskoe Selo), and the Crimea, in Ukraine. I need to visit New Livadia Palace.

i would also love to go back to hawaii. oh, and i have a total thing for banff and lake louise. i HEART alberta.

Maybe it's strange, but I also like to vacation in Las Vegas. At first you'd think that Vegas and Disney occupy the opposite ends of the spectrum, but I like both places for all the same reasons. Both are designed to be completely unrealistic and fantastical places. The themeing that Vegas employs at it's hotels aren't all that different than all the imagineering that Disney incorporates into all of it's work.

I dont gamble alot, but I enjoy taking alot of pictures, and I love all the architecture that I see in either place.

Disney World is still my favorite, but my wife is starting to get a bit bored with it all I think Sad

I love heading to Colorado...camping or time with family...Contrary to environmentalist opinion....I still think a road trip is a great vacation. I'd love another over to Yellowstone again or deeper into Canada. I also travel to AZ since family and friends still reside there...and I've been know to drop into CA to do other things besides the parks.

I think it is healthy to keep variety it my vacationing!

MikeA...My wife and I love Las Vegas for the exact same reasons! We love the shows and the flair. The service is always great....we're not gamblers either, but we love all the different themed hotels and casinos.....
