Hi all,

Just wondering how close some people live to DisneyWorld. I've been checking home prices in Kissimmee and they seem to be dirt cheap!! It is very appealing to move close to Disneyworld. So if anyone lives close to it, please let me know. I'd like to know how it is living there (I live in Utah right now).

Housing in Central Florida being called "dirt cheap".... your definately not from around here Smile

I think it would probably be between Disney3xJC or SGT623... I know John can hear HM sometimes and SGT lives in the CM Complex (even though he isn't a CM, how did you swing that?)...

I'm confortable 30 mins away... Smile

I was looking at listings in Kissimmee (4 bed/2 bath, 2000+ SF, built 2000 or newer) ranging in price from $110,000 and up (averaging $155,000). Perhaps this is a misrepresentation of what they are currently going for, but to me, that is cheap!!

So being 30 Minuites away, how often do you find you're able to go to Disneyworld? Is there traffic going there? Do you ever get sick of it? Do you ever get bored living where you are?

I can not speak for DaGuru but when I was living in Titleville USA: AKA Gainesville FL, I was about an hour and 45 away. I would go about once to twice a month. I loved it! When growing up in So Cal. I was 5 mins from Disneyland. In high School we would ditch school and go to the park and we used to watch the Fireworks from our front lawn till a large building destroyed the sight lines. I have friends that got tired of it but I never did. I guess I drank the punch. Very Happy

I don't know about Florida...but when i lived in AZ...about 4.5 hours from DL...I would go out about every 3-4 weeks--more if I could swing it.

Gas was a lot cheaper...and sleep, I don't think i knew what that was!

Now I'm a 2.5 hour flight away...and I'm still there as often as possible.

I don't think I'll ever tire of it!

On moving to Florida...I'd look at other factors as well--weather differences, lifestyle, etc. I enjoy visiting--but the humidity and the such would most likely prevent me from moving.

If you think you'd like it...why not go down, rent for a bit--see if it's a life that fits for yah before making such a big commitment.

Wow, not bad! Makes Atlanta's houses seem even more ridiculously overpriced.

One of my girlfriends lives in Celebration. When we stay at her condo we can sometimes hear the nightly fireworks. I grew up in Sebring, one hour and 15 minutes south of WDW. We used to go so much I tell people I grew up there. I never grew out of it, either - I swear I sometimes get homesick for Disney!

Thanks for the responses! Now I REALLY want to move there. Now!

It sounds like it will stay affordable for a while, so I'm putting together a preliminary plan in which me move in a few years. I'll have to go down and visit to see what life is like in Florida whithout being on Disney property. Let's hope I can be strong enough to repulse the urge to go to Disneyworld (the whole time).

30 mins away is a little too far for really quick trips or evening trips.... but we are usually out there at least once a weekend...

That one deal you posted sounded like a nice deal... more than likely it is a townhouse and not a lot of square footage. It depends on what you are looking for... If you want a townhouse/condo, they are coming down in price finally (our townhouse is currently being built Smile ). If you are looking for a single family home and yard, the prices are still sky high! Land is so expensive right now and property taxes are through the roof. It really depends on where you are, because different cities will have different prop tax rates.

Example, we are currently living in Winter Springs. Our townhouse is in Sanford (10 mins up the road). Winter Springs is approx 15-20% higher on property tax than Sanford. So make sure you find out the area/region property tax is going to be and add that to your calculations....

Dude... whatever! Valdosta, Ga has had more prep state and national championships than almost anywhere! That's why Valdosta is probably the smallest town on ESPN's lists, even without any close professional sports teams and only a D2 college...

Oh, and did I mention that Valdosta is mrsguru and I's hometown.... Smile

I cant believe that you actually compared a D2 team to a D1 team it's like saying that the Yomiuri Giants are better then the New York Yankees. They are not in the same league. so I say poo poo to your claims. Razz

I still like you though. Very Happy

Okay, so I live in Chicago, but have a house in Windermere. Does that count?

BTW, the Yamouri Giants are like 500 times better than the Yankees. Laughing

The Cubs are in a class all by their own. Maybe, the Hiroshima Carp could play them.
