I just wanted to take a moment and encourage everyone to get out and vote today...! It doesn't matter who you vote for, it just matters that you do vote...

Well... I agree with the main part of the message. Vote. Vote. Vote.
(but only one time please.)

I won't agree to the "it does not matter who you vote for." - I think it does matter.

If you have not looked up your candidates - you should do so. Make it an INFORMED vote.

Too many gave too much for us not to vote or to cast an uninformed vote.

Isn't it always bedlam in Chicago regardless of if it is election day?

Lots of pent up frustration in Chicago right now... the Bears finally find a QB and then he gets hurt... the poor showing of the White Sox... the huge disappointment known as my beloved Cubs... The city is just looking for a reason to erupt!

We'll vote after work. I just want this to be over. It has been a bad dream for too long. And whoever gets elected, good luck to them.

Expecting over 1 million people to attend the Obama Rally in Grant Park tonight!

I'm working, so I'll be watching it all on TV. The lines at my polling place weren't all that long at 9:30. I've always been a mid-day voter. I seem to miss all the crowds at that time.

As for the pent up frustration......we're used to it! Laughing

I'll be heading to vote after work too. The polls weren't open this morning when I left for work or I would have done it then.

lines were long here, but I think that was due to the switch to a new voting system more than a larger turnout....

Glad to have voted this AM. Went at about 9:30 and had no lines at any of the 6 or so polling places at the location where I voted. The poll workers said that the numbers of votes cast at that point had already exceeded the number of votes for most ususal elections. I am glad I missed that insanity earlier in the morning. Get out and vote! After that... keep them honest!

There are reports of a 3 1/2 hour wait in some polling places here in Orlando.... polls are supposed to close at 7:00pm, but would they turn people away if there is still a line?

I am SO glad I voted last weekend... I think this election is showing how beneficial early voting can be. Maybe they should look at doing an Election Day or Election Week... Where the polls are openned several days (just like early voting), but there is no counting until the period is over. Then everything is counted and the results are announced.

Heck, they could do the results like a game show... put the broadcast rights up for sale to all of the networks, highest bidder gets the exclusive coverage! Maybe we can recoup some of the money spent on the election! Smile

in my mind, when I hear 3 1/2 hours, that says some registrar of voters is not able to handle the job well.

The sole purpose of that job is to make sure this one event runs well. Making sure the right people are allowed to vote, that they have the opportunity to vote, maintaining the voting roles, and that the equipment and sites are prepared.

If the wait is 3 1/2 hours...,I have to question how well the job is being accomplished My boss would not let me do my job that poorly.
