|
|
Hey all,
I've been noticing a few glitches on the server over the past two weeks or so. For instance, It's about 2 PM here Friday on the east coast, and I just had two times when I clicked on a forum post, only for it to come up with a blank page. On the second attempt, the post page rendered correctly. In addition, I've seen a lot of instances where the track images aren't showing up on the now playing window - the icon instead shows a broken image link. I think it's some sort of serving issue and not a issue with the DB because often when I refresh, the image shows up.
Is anyone else seeing some occasional glitchiness? |

I have frequently had the image not download, but attributed it to my machine.
In the hangman thread I will frequently get a blank page when going to the last page. going back one page seems to get me to the last entry, and the new entry appears at the top of the next page.
It is as if it knows there needs to be a new page but is not waiting until thepage has content to send you there.
Not sure if what your seeing is same thing. |

I just discovered I can't listen in from Chrome...is that to be expected? I'm attempting to go back through Firefox...but the beta is just not working properly. Guess I may actually have to open IE---YIKES!!
: )
[EDIT]
Hey...Chrome likes Quicktime! I'm on ....hooray!! |

The browser issues are NOT attributed to UAB. That's not something we're responsible for. That's up to you to configure. Actually it has nothing to do with what your browser likes, but what you have setup for default applications to handle various types of media to listen to various web content. This is a personal thing on each person's system.
As far as everything else. It looks like there's an increased server load.....I think I know where it's coming from (India). GD spammers hammering the server.
Reason number 994 for wanting to redo the entire UAB interface. _________________

On another front. The server has not been rebooted in almost 2 years.....(Yeah you try that with a windows server and let me know how that works for you)
I think I'll give it a reboot sometime tomorrow (not that it needs it) but it'll reset some items that have been holding connections for quite sometime. _________________

Personally (and as someone in the IT profession), I think this site is pretty amazing.
From the design through to its reliability it is one of the most "professional" fan sites I have seen for any topic, let alone Disney.
It is responsive, well thought out, easy to navigate, visually appealing, and offers a lot of functionality.
Especially considering it is one of the few sites I DON't have to worry about spam or online Ads.
I don't think you would get a windows server to even run for 2 years with out an app on it, let alone running this site. Heck, the service and security pathes alone would have forced multiple reboots.... |

2 Years? My company admins can not keep the servers running for 7 days in a row even during business hours!
I have had some problems but overall most of them have been browser related and I have to agree. You guys run one heck of a site here. Reliable, fun, easy to use and chock full of features...Heck this site is better than the DISNEY site! Kudos to all the admins and the programmers responsible... |
