Disney is announcing this morning their new marketing campaign for 2010: Give a Day, Get a Disney Day!

Basically, this new campaign will award guests with free admission if they perform some sort of community service or volunteer (must be with an approved Disney charity or organization)... If you are an AP, they have other offers instead of free admission (just like with the current Birthday campaign)...

Here is the official Disney announcement page: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?name=Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day

Here is another official page that gives more details and appears to be the "sponsors" page: http://disney.prizelogic.com/en/default.aspx
This site is full of the Muppets, who make a lot of loud noises that can't be muted (sound warning)...

Here is a screener of one of the soon to be released commercials for the new campaign: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FI2gvsUbUk

The Muppets are going to be heavily used to promote this campaign, because they are an "outside" character group that can used to show that they want to go to the parks (after performing work)... This is the campaign that they recent filmed the Muppets at Disneyland a few weeks ago...

The Orlando Sentinel Blogs has a little more, including some publicity photos: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/features_orlando/2009/09/disney-world-disneyland-give-day-get-day-pictures.html

I vaguely remember pitching this strategy a few years back, but more of a partnership with a cable network at Disney.

Oh well. Nice to see they're moving away from WWYC.

Actually, from what I have read, they are not moving away from WWYC... The way it is being described, the volunteer program is just replacing the birthday program. I have seen several sites that have stated that they are going to continue with WWYC, just with this new program as part of it...

JaMMitors Making Surprise Visits Across U.S. For Give a Day, Get a Disney Day

Earlier this month, we showed how our custodial crew uses the tools of their trade to entertain. But, when our JaMMitors Tour Crew grabs their flyswatters, dustpans and trash cans, something special happens — and it may soon be happening in your city.

Members of the tour crew, who prefer the sound of instruments found in hardware stores, are now on the road sharing the spirit of giving around the country. They’re helping celebrate our Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program.

The crew includes a builder, landscaper and painter — all experts you’d likely see on a volunteer site. But these ordinary volunteer workers turn extraordinary on the right sidewalk. It’s probably best if you see and hear it for yourself. So, we’re including video of a recent performance.

The crew has already started their 20-city U.S. tour where it’s estimated that they’ll go through more than 100 pairs of drumsticks and many stacks of trash-can lids. They’re in Philadelphia today but are not saying where they’ll pop up next. If you’re really curious, the trio may offer some hints on their Twitter account, @DisneyParksTour.

Fun marketing idea. Hopefully they'll perform outside of City Hall in Downtown Orlando so I can watch! I know, doubtful... Or I could just hop over to Epcot... Smile

cute marketing.
and it is nice they are encouraging volunteering, but seems like to qualify you have to go through the organization of their choice and not the organization of your choice.

I understand why, but it means millions of people volunteering to worthy causes will not qualify.

The last remaining feature of this promotion has come to an end, the "Disney’s Honorary VoluntEARS Cavalcade” parade starring the Muppets has performed it's last performance. Only a few reminders of this promotion remain, as Disney is looking to start promoting their new promotion...
