UAB Expansion Announcement

As the MCP promised, we’re here to announce some exciting broadcast and site enhancements. We think you’ll be pleased with what he’s come up with. We’re pretty excited about it all. So without further ado, let’s see what has been unveiled.

We spent most of the weekend installing and configuring new software and security patches, which will optimize load times for many features."
New Feature Tour:
 We’ve separated out all the Broadcast links and put them into a block by themselves called “Broadcast Navigation”. You’ll see some links that are familiar and some that are new. How about a virtual tour through that block of the new links? Here we go:
Tune In Now!
Here you will find all the streams we have available on Utilidors Audio Broadcasting. There’s an option available to you whether you are on dial-up or high-speed. We also have a stream for our “Premiere Members”. This stream is available to our community members that have been generous enough to contribute to the site in a monetary way. The listening limit (time) has been extended from 3 hours to 6 hours, before you will need to reconnect to a particular stream with your media player.
Now Playing
We’ve made some changes to this page we think you’ll be pleased with. When you click on “Now Playing” you may think it’s the same page it was before, but there are a few subtle changes that make this page even better. For instance, we’ve added some fun descriptions to the “overall ratings” line. We’ve made a change where you’ll see who requested a track in the Recently Visited Destinations: section. We’ve also added a link that if clicked will bring you to a different page. Let's discuss that page now:
Overall Rating: You may see something like Fantastic! (4.75) out of 4 votes. If you click on the “4 votes” a new page will open. This page has a variety of information about the track. All the members that have voted for this track and what they voted will show at the bottom of this screen. In the top right corner of the page you’ll have the ability to request that track if you’d like. Next to the “request” icon are the "Flyer Miles" Value (points) that it will need to request the track. If successfully requested, the numerical amount will be deducted from your total acquired "mileage". You can view what comments are available for a track by clicking on the number associated with “# comments” COMING SOON). You now have the ability to also view when the tracks were played by clicking on the number associated with “# plays”. Now we come to the last line of the screen; the “rating” line. If you click on “Rating Costs”, a new window will pop up showing you our “Flyer Mile Values”. We will discuss this in detail later in this announcement.
Now Playing Remote
This is a free floating page you can leave open and still have your original UAB page to do other things with such as making requests, visiting the forums, shopping at the Gift Shoppe, etc. This page will only show what’s currently playing and give you the ability to rank the current track. You will NOT see what is coming up or has recently played.
My Pending Requests
This is where you’ll see what you’ve requested and the estimated time your requests will play. Keep in mind during scheduled shows no requests can be made or will play until the show is complete.
My Pending Requests Remote
Like the “Now Playing Remote” page, My Pending Requests Remote is a free floating page that will show you your upcoming requests.
My Donations List
Here you will find a compilation of "Flyer Miles' you have accumulated on UAB, the date you acquired them, the type of donation, a brief description relevant to the transaction, as well as your "Passenger Status". "Flyer Miles" are accumulated for several reasons. You may find the breakdown on the acquisition of these "Miles" by clicking "Flyer Miles Rewards" in the Broadcast Navigation block at the top left of your screen.
Top User Stats
Here you will find various statistics as our top track raters, commenters (Coming Soon), donators, frequent flyers, and requesters are. If your name appears on any of these lists it will be highlighted in orange!
Top Track Stats
On this page you will find a listing of UAB's most popular requested tracks. Separate Categories are kept for all-time, past 30 days, and past week. By default, this page will display the #1 most requested track respective to each category.
Flyer Mile Rewards
This helpful little guide defines how a UAB community member can accumulate "flyer miles" through active participation within the UAB Community. This includes but is not limited to Donations, Gift Shoppe purchases, and Station ID submissions. You will also find ways that you may “spend” your flyer mile rewards here. All previous donations have been included retro-actively to day 1 for flyer miles.
A note about requests before we continue: The Broadcast queue will now be monitored by the MCP. If the queue goes over 2 hours, the MCP will disable requests until the queue is below 90 minutes.
You now have the ability to make a total of 25 requests a day (up from 15 per day). Pictured below is the request quota schedule, detailing the number of requests you can make during those times.
To protect against the redundancy of tracks playing just prior to, and again during a top 10 countdown, a system check has been implemented to deny the requesting of tracks that are potential candidates for broadcasting during a top 10 countdown in the hours prior to show time.
Now back to our regularly scheduled announcement:
UAB Passenger Info
 You will notice a new block on the ride side of the home page. This is your UAB Passenger Info Block. The first thing you will notice is “Passenger Status”. The statuses are as follows: Preferred, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond in that order. Future plans will bring new and exciting features to members of this new "tiered" system.
Following along in that block are your “Flyer Miles”. This number will change during your visit to UAB as participate in the community's many activities including, requesting tracks, posting to the UAB community forum, or make donations.
Next, you will see the total of any requests you have pending in the queue (clicking on pending requests will take you to the remote pending requests page).
Ratings: tells you how many tracks you have rated thus far. Remember, you get .1 points for each track rated!
Requests: tells you how many requests you've made pertaining to the broadcast.
As mentioned previously track comments have not been enabled yet. Please stay tuned for more information on this exciting future update.
