Nope, not the castles. Commonality is between the 2 stories. |

Could they be the first two Disney princess movies set in France? |

They might be, but not not what I was going for. |

Both princesses wore gowns in two colors (Aurora while the fairies were arguing about the color, Cinderella when her stepsisters tore it up)? |

It's more about the back stories. |

Boy, I’m coming up blank here. Probably overthinking it. |

Probably not, I'm bad at hinting.
These 2 stories were published in 1697 by the same French author Charles Perrault. Disney used these for inspiration & not the versions published by the Brothers Grimm ~ 100yrs later.
Disney definitely did not use the earliest published versions which involved death, a fatal fire, and other nsfw happenings.. |

Boy, I was altogether on the wrong track! I knew the original story for Sleeping Beauty was certainly nothing for children!
What classic character did Walt Disney himself actually play the role of in a school production? |

Nope. Character is from a Disney feature just slightly more modern than Pinocchio. |

Not Dumbo (but that would have been an hilarious costume!). Character was a flyer though. |
