By now you've probably realized that The broadcast is dark...Today is a "Day of Silence for Internet radio around the world. A is bill currently circulating, that if/when it passes will instill VERY strict royalty charges for ALL internet radio broadcasters, in turn shutting most of them down. In layman's terms it's turning into what some equate to being legalized extortion.
Utilidors Audio Broadcasting will start campaigning along with MANY sites around the world to help the cause to keep internet radio within reach of so many webcasters around the world.
Please voice your opinion to help keep internet radio alive. Visit www.savenetradio.org and find out how your voice can be heard.
We thank you for participating in this cause. It's because of active listeners like you that UAB can continue to operate. _________________

Good luck with the effort, I hope it manages to work and the Broadcasting can be left un-impacted. I am a big proponent of folks getting reimbursed for what is truly theirs, and I have several times mentioned I am strongly against pirating in all its many forms, but some of the stuff they have been attempting to pass lately is simply ridiculous. For a site, like UAB, which follows the appropriate guidelines to get penalized would be a travesty.
I do have two questions for the UAB admins...
1) Was this previously announced and I simply missed reading about it?
2) For the folks that had requested tracks pending, will the miles be re-allocated? (I surely would not have requested tracks had I known in advance the broadcast was scheduled to be brought down.) |

Yup ALL miles will be reimbursed..I have a running tally of who's requests are listed...
This was partly my fault...In trying to keep up with too many things at once, I mistakenly marked off July 26th as the "Day of Silence" thinking I was writing it down for June. DisneyDave was nice enough to remind me of what day it was.
Thanks for your patience WDWfan... _________________

I think you meant June 26th. I hope we never lose the UAB as it really is not only a great advertisement for the parks, but a rich source history that makes us feeling young again. |

Thanks tE.
As previously mentioned, I really hope this works out. I'd hate to see UAB close its site. I find listening a great way to relax and to relive fond memories |

IF everyone could write an e-mail voicing your concerns to the powers that be (congress/senate etc) IT would help things out greatly! Every person counts. _________________

It appears that Sirius Internet Radio (the satalite stations internet broadcast) was also dark yesterday.
I hope this made the difference they had hoped. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

There was A LOT of streamers offline yesterday...I'm glad to see that the actions were taken by many respectable broadcasts.
Please keep getting those letters / e-mails / phonecalls in. Again, you can visit http://savenetradio.org to find out more ways you can benefit the cause. _________________

OK. I just made my phone calls to my 3 elected officials... I've received some pretty good responses thus far in terms of them leaning towards the legislature and every one that I've called assured me that my voice helps the cause.
Has everyone done this? |
