I am thinking about going to DL this year. How hard is it yo get accommodations in the area. I know it is almost impossible to get into the DLH. Is it better to get them farther away from the park? And do any of you know of The Fox and Hound or Pickwicks Pub. I have a friend that sings there and think I will pop in on him when I'm there.

As far as accommodations go, its not that bad. If you've never been to DL, I would suggest to TRY and get a ressie at any of the Disney hotels. If that can't be done, any in the area will work. There are a number of hotels that are walking distance to the parks, but there are also some that SAY they are walking distance, but are like 2 miles away. Choose carefully.

The 3 main areas you want to look are Harbor Blvd, Ball Road, and Katella Ave. These are the 3 roads that surround Disneyland Resort.

As far as the other places, I've never heard of them.

I agree with DaveyPoo that you should really try to stay at one of the onsite properties. All 3 hotels are awesome.

Even if you get a hotel/motel off-property, most are serviced by the Anaheim Resort Transit (ART), which takes you right up to the hub between the two parks and Downtown Disney. Disney has a series of private hotels/motels they call their "Good Neighbor Hotels." Like WDW, they vary as to price/accomodations. Check to see if ART services your hotel or not.
Enjoy your trip! Smile

If you hazve a few extra bucks to shell out on accomidations, do it by stayuing at one of the 3 onsite properties. Even the Paradise Pier Hotel is magnificent. It just adds another flavor of magic to your trip.
