So, this is probably the saddest of the cuts - Fantasmic is down to two days a week, even during the busy summer months. Sigh... Stupid economy.

"Fantasmic, which is one of Disney World’s premier nighttime shows, will also be cut down dramatically. Starting this summer, the show will only be performed twice a week. For those families who are only planning one day in each Disney park, they may want to hit Disney Hollywood Studios on Mondays and Thursdays, the days when the show will mainly be running. However, if the show is not a concern, then visiting on other days may lead to smaller crowds. It seems curious that Disney would make such a drastic cut during the middle of the summer busy season, but it must make some sense from a business perspective."

"Other cuts have included Disney’s Magical Express. This bus and luggage service is one of the perks of staying on the property. However, the service has recently started only providing one luggage tag per guest, which may affect families somewhat. Further, for those arriving after 10 p.m., luggage service will no longer be available. While it is true the distinctive yellow tags are not required for luggage pickup, it certainly sends a clearer message about what the Disney World Resort would like to do."

What is going on with the world?

What's going on is that Disney is feeling the crunch like every where else.

I'll be will to bet that these are not the last of the cuts coming at Disney.

I just hope they put things back as the economy comes back.

The company I work for is famous for making cuts when times are bad and then
leaving the cuts in place when times are good to pad the bottom line.

Lets just hope the the people at the top of Disney aren't as greedy as the people
at the top here where I work.

They're running around like their hair is on fire. It's so sad the quality is going to be reduced. Most people who experience Disney like this won't go back.

Also, Disney's pretty famous for keeping their new agenda even when the economy comes back. Most of these changes will be permanent.

I believe that you aren't limited to the 2 bags, they are just sending out only 1 initially. You can still call and ask for more. I bet that with most of the airlines only allowing one bag without a fee now, Magical Express was only seeing one bag for most riders anyway. It actually makes sense as much as I hate to see cuts.

When WDW cut back on the number of Fantasmic performances, they did add a "bad weather" show. Previously, if bad weather was in the area and Disney could not safely perform the show they would just cancel it. Now, hwne bad weather is in the area and Fantasmic gets cancelled, they have a quick 3 minute show that utilizes the fans, lights, and all of the fireworks (no performers). And apparently this 3 minute show can also be done in the rain (as it was during the clip below).

Recently someone posted video to YouTube that shows this shortened show... The video starts approx 30-45 seconds after the show started, but the first part is only the water fans...

Looks pretty cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieR5rPtg61c
