Does anyone have a Disney Visa? Is it worth it? I was thinking about getting one so I was curious to know others felt about the Disney Visa. |

We have the "Mickey Card". We use it for everything but always pay off the balance monthly. Usually in the course of a year we earn enough rewards points to have meal money for a few days of a trip. We also use the code to get a discount when shopping online.
It has been worth it for us. _________________ [ |

Great! Thanks for the info. I was afraid that it would take me years to earn anything of value |

Remember it's all based on what you charge. We use it for gas, groceries, liquor store (that adds up fast), any type of shopping, airfare, hotel, car service. Every once in a while they offer extra points on some charges like airfare. If I could pay my mortgage with it, I would. When you sign up I think they give you 25 points to start. We transfer points once a year before a trip to see the Mouse and usually have in the vicinity of a few hundred dollars.
And there are discounts at some places at WDW. A few weeks ago I got a coupon from Lowes that was good if I charged my purchase on the Mickey card. We have been happy with the whole experience.
Get the card, fill up the gas tank, go out for a nice dinner, send your sister in Atlanta a new pair of running shoes, and watch those Mickey points roll up. _________________ [ |

You can also get discounts at the Disney Store if you spend over $50 (I believe). There are also offers for www.disneystore.com from time to time.
But Frank is right, use it for anything you'd pay cash for and pay it off. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

We have it too and its been great.
Last year they had a promotion going for 5X the points on charges like groceries and gas and other "essentials." We racked up enough rewards points that when we went on our trip to WDW last Sept, we barely used any real cash.
When you go to cash in your points, they put the Disney Dollars on a debit card for you to spend down. So you do have to keep up with what's left on it.
We've had it for awhile and think it's well worth it, considering how much we end up using the points. _________________ Toadi Acceleratio Semper Absurda |

I've got one. I barely use it, but I recently redeemed points for a free DVD of 20k. |

David's correct about getting a discount at the stores. If you spend over $50, you get a 10% discount. _________________ *~deb~*

I got the Visa debit card a few months ago. You have to specify "credit" when you use it, rather than "debit," to get awarded the points. I don't use it a lot, but I figure I may as well earn a few points than not. I believe it also gets you merchandise discounts in some places on property. _________________ Beth's Blog |
